As we view the night sky, we will also learn about different constellations and stars and the uses they were given throughout history to navigate and tell stories of different cultures. People have been looking at the stars for as long as humans have existed; the ancient practice of stargazing connects us to cultures past and present around the world – and what better place to enjoy the peace of the night sky than in Yellowstone!
For photographers – whether amateurs with smartphones or professionals – we will use photography to explore the night sky in a whole new way. For non-photographers, we will enjoy the peace and stillness of an evening under the stars in this wild place.
With the growth of civilization, the bulk of the populous places in the United States (and around the world) have lost their pristine views of the night sky, and the true splendor of the night sky is lost for most people. So join us for a truly unique nighttime experience in Yellowstone. Your expert guide is experienced in exploring Yellowstone safely after dark, so you can relax, enjoy, and photograph this wonderful landscape.
Milky Way night sky programs are usually presented during the summer between the crescent moon and new moon when the core of the Milky Way galaxy is visible.
Full Moon programs are offered to enjoy the light of this celestial object. Small hikes under the moonlight will give us the perfect setting to listen to wildlife across the park and capture the magic of it.

Rescheduling Your Tour with Us: We are happy to reschedule your tour for you at no additional charge, dependent upon availability. If you reschedule your tour within 30 days of your original tour departure date, your tour booking fee becomes non-refundable.
Exceptions for Unfavorable Sky Conditions: Night sky photography is very condition-dependent. Therefore, if sky conditions are predicted to be unfavorable on the night of your scheduled tour (for example, due to cloud cover or smoke from wildfires), we will work with you to try to reschedule your tour for the night before or the night after your original reservation, depending on your schedule and our availability. If that is not possible, you and your guide may decide to cancel your tour, and you would receive a full refund.
We believe in a strict code of ethics. The animals of Yellowstone face enormous pressure from the sheer number of visitors coming every day to observe them. The park has set forth certain rules that we will adhere to. Mainly, we must not disturb wildlife and we should maintain a good distance to ensure that the animals can carry on with their day-to-day lives and that we stay safe. The current rules include 100 yards from bears, wolves, and cougars (mountain lions) and at least 25 yards from everything else. We appreciate your understanding and so will the animals.
